What can it do for you ?

Find dive operators
You can browse for dive operators by country or search using country, city and keywords. Directory listings have physical address and email address. Only a few have a web site link or any other information.
Find and discuss dive sites
You can browse dive sites that other members have added to DivingObsession and add information, pictures or comments about your own experiences. The search page lets you search by destination and type of dive. When you have found your site you can rate it on the type and numbers of marine animals seen and whether you would go back.
Dive store marketing
If you are a dive store then you can use DivingObsessions to market your services. First have a search to see if you are already in their database. If you are then just click on the link and sign up to add information to your profile. If not then choose the link at the bottom of home page to add your dive site.
Is it easy to use ?
Finding a dive site is a little cumbersome because you have to go through world region, country and then region to discover if there are any dive sites available. And its a little frustrating to be limited to only 100 results when looking for a dive store. If you are searching in a country with many dive stores (eg Australia or UK) then you cannot see more than 100 unless you know what city you are looking for and use search. Unfortunately a lot of the dive store entries do not have city entered so will not return in the search.
Does it travel ?
There is a lot of javascript included on the web site. If try to use it behind a corporate firewall or in an internet cafe with older computers then you will not be able to use the menus or other parts of the site.
Is your personal information secure ?
The privacy policy link mentioned on the terms of use page times out every time we click on it. You supply only a username, country, and an email (which they don’t validate) so there is little exposed.
What do you agree to ?
Reading the terms of use you agree to play nice and to supply only accurate information. The page about earning points also points out that any “Bogus, duplicate, or very low-quality content added will be removed” and you will get points deducted. So check your facts before you post!
Users
There are about 2000 users but only a few have ever entered a dive site and there are only two entries on the discussion forums.
We say
This is more than the normal diving directory because it allows divers to add their own information, add pictures and rate and discuss dive stores and dive sites. Unfortunately though the website is buggy and throws out errors from the database. The latest news is from the end of 2006 which suggests it has been abandoned.
